As a general rule, I try to keep Politics off my deviantART page. I don't like stepping on toes, and I know my itty bitty sphere of influence is so small it really would be meaningless either way. But with only hours to go before we start Voting on who will be President of the United States for the next four years, I feel compelled to speak up.
So with all due apologies to whomever I may offend with what I'm about to say, I'm just going to put my thoughts on this down as plainly as I can:
It is a sad but true reality of American Politics, and as far as I can tell it always has been: when you go to the Polls, you are Voting defensively as much as, if not more than, you are proactively. That is to say, it isn't only about Voting for Obama and the Democrats, it's about Voting against Romney and the Republicans. And make no mistake, if you're at all interested in seeing America actually make something resembling progress, that is what you want to do when you Vote tomorrow, especially since you damned well ought to Vote if you have the capacity to do so.
I get a certain degree of disillusionment and disappointment with Obama. There's a lot about his Administration I don't much care for either. He's continued some of the more unnerving trends on Foreign Policy started by the Bush Administration, most notably an increasingly-flexible outlook on who the Rule of Law does and does not protect. His overly-conciliatory attitude toward Republicans has led to some of his most promising initiatives being either severely watered-down or else stalled out completely into oblivion, while making him far too amiable to the idea of cutting into Social Security and Medicare, two of the most important Social Safety Nets of the last century.
But all those problems essentially apply a hundred fold to Romney, and that's without the countering effect of the genuinely-good things Obama has done in his first term, as well as on top of the numerous other terrible things Romney has going for him that Obama doesn't. Despite his frequent attempts to re-invent himself to suit whatever demographic he feels needs reaching (itself an unsavory trait to observe so plainly on display), Romney has rather consistently shown himself to be the worst kind of retrograde Racist, Sexist, Classist douchebag, and to be perfectly frank I don't feel like giving him control of the country when I know his ideas would, if put into action, do real and lasting harm to people I care about, to say nothing of the Nation as a whole.
So I am urging you, whoever you are reading this: I don't care if you dislike Obama. I promise you, Romney will be a thousand times worse in every way that matters. So please, Vote against him. It genuinely means something if you do.

Ain't That Always The Way? UPDATED
Every time I start building up momentum on Catching Up here, something has to come along to knock the wind out of my sails.
In this case, it's because, being as I am in just the right spot in Massachusetts to have been hit hard by our second Noreaster in as many weeks, I am currently without power, and likely will be for at least the next few days. So, while I'll do what I can to stay connected, don't expect too much activity from me for a bit. XP
But hey, in Good News, I did get a new job. 8D So look forward to hearing more about that once things settle down. ^_^
EDIT: Power is back on as of last night. ^_^
Where Was I?
Apologies for going quiet here again over the last few days. For once, though, it's not directly my fault. Indeed, to quote Gandalf:
Basically? I almost got suckered in to an Internet Security scam earlier this week. I caught on before The Point Of No Return, fortunately, but unfortunately I got far enough in that I had to take my computer into the shop (a local Staples, specifically) to have it looked over and cleaned out of any potential viruses or malware that might have gotten ported onto it in the process. I just got it back this morning (and all is well, thankfully), but in the interim I've had only limited access to the internet,

Welcome one and all to the 2018 Edition of that old Goji favorite, "Why The Heck Have I Been So Quiet On Here Lately?"
Well, for one thing, my attention's had to move primarily over to finding a new job! The bakery I'd been working at for the last three years closed down at the end of 2017, and I've been out of work since. Still looking into possible new jobs, but as of yet, no luck, I'm afraid. But! I'm doing OK, thanks to my folks takin' care of me, and I'm determined not to give up.
That said, as a reminder, I AM TAKING COMMISSIONS RIGHT NOW
For another, I had to leave town for a little bit earlier this week. My friend Elisto (https://www.deviantart.com/elisto) an

So one of those newfangled meme things I’ve been seeing make the rounds a lot this year, in particular as the end of the year draws closer, is to let those creators whose work, be it art, writing, or otherwise has been meaningful to me this year. I thus wanted to take this chance to showcase my appreciation for all of them. Quite a few of the people listed are good friends of mine, too, but that just adds to the importance of their work to me, and I consider it my good fortune to know them.
To ALL of you, thank you for sharing your creativity with us, and your friendship. You’ve been a big help for me g

All I can say is, so relieved XD
After I voted yesterday morning, I avoided all political news until this morning when I read who won. I just didn't want to hear any more projections, political posturing, nothing. Actually, it turned out to be a rather stress-free way to get through the election! Also, it was nice to wake up and find out the my state will now allow gay marriage.
