Once upon a time, in the Magical Land of Equestria....
Humans have long lived in a world of delicate balance. Magic and Science, Spirits and Nature, Sun and Moon...just like the Great Pony Spirits they are descended from, honored in their culture and said to even now watch over them, these Humans seek to improve their understanding of the Elements that keep life in Harmony.
Yet Darkness looms in the horizon....
The wicked sorceress Nightmare Moon, once sister to Equestria's monarch Queen Celestia, has finally succeeded in escaping her thousand-year imprisonment on the Moon. Using her dark power, she dredges up an army of mindless Parasprites to serve as her minions, and seeks to stir up the monstrous Beasts that live in Equestria's shadows in the hopes of overtaking her sister's Kingdom. Even with her considerable power, Celestia cannot conquer this threat alone, and with Nightmare Moon hidden away from her, she must entrust a new generation of Heroes with the Great Magic that sealed her sister away, the Elements of Harmony.
Twilight Sparkle, Celestia's prize pupil, highly intelligent but deeply introverted; the element of Magic!
Fluttershy, a timid young woman with a compassionate heart; the element of Kindness!
Applejack, proud, hard-working, and stubborn; the element of Honesty!
Rarity, a self-assured and creative fashionista; the element of Generosity!
Pinkie Pie, wild and free and always looking to make people smile; the element of Laughter!
Rainbow Dash, rambunctious racer with wild dreams; the element of Loyalty!
Six radically different individuals, asked to join together and defend Equestria against Evil. Despite the differences that separate them, however, their greatest strength will come from finding the Bonds that unite them with each other and the Great Pony Spirits of ancient times. Only by mastering this Truth can they hope to succeed in their quest.
