OK, so this is actually a weird little idea I'd had stewing in my head for the last few years. Notorious for its appearance on “Mystery Science Theater 3000”, “Prince of Space” is a fairly bad movie thanks to its repetitive plot, terrible effects work, hackneyed writing, and general inanity. But y’know what? Strip it down to its base elements, and it feels like there’s actually something of value there. A single-dad superhero whose only real weapon against his enemy is being immune to their chief weapon, but otherwise apparently just being a normal dude with a laser gun? That strikes me as a really interesting foundation to build a superhero on, and I’ve always kind of wanted to explore it. I realize that comes close to making it sound like the Grim ‘n’ Gritty version of “Prince of Space”, but that’s really the last thing I want. I just kind of wanted to see what the idea might look like if the execution didn’t…y’know…suck.
